For over a hundred years Montblanc has represented the highest culture of writing, embracing long-lasting values, such as artisan tradition and quality. Maximum research in terms of shape, style, materials and meticulous mastery in the creation of unique pieces. It planted its roots at the beginning of the twentieth century, a century of modernity and innovation, when two German businessmen Alfred Nehemias, a banker from Hamburg and August Eberstein, an engineer from Berlin, decided to seize this prolific moment and decided to produce fountain pens.

Montblanc the art of writing

"Manufacturers of high quality gold fountain pens" it is with this ovation that the history of Montblanc begins in 1908. The rounded star affixed to the cap of the pens represents the summit of Mont Blanc: it is the symbol of commitment of the brand for high quality and the desire to reach the highest levels of European artisanal production. The Great War will bring difficult years especially for the production. Once the conflict is over, everything will resume at full capacity, thanks to the commercial strategies and advertising, created in those years by an illustrator from the Bauhaus, Grete Gross.
