Back in 1881, Kintaro Hattori, a young man with avant-garde ideas, opened his first watch and jewelry shop in the Ginza area of ​​Tokyo. He decided shortly after to create his first watch, "Seikosha" literally of folding manufacture, but only in 1924 will it become the brand we still know today with the name of "Seiko" (exquisite or successful).

A distinctive feature of the brand is to handcraft every single component of all the watch lines. 1969 marks an important milestone for the Seiko house, the first quartz watch in the world was launched, known as the Seiko 35SQ Astron. The avant-garde spirit of the brand led it in 1986 to present the “Kinetic” movement at the Basel fair. A system capable of converting the energy of the kinetic movement into electrical energy. Seiko did not stop in its evolutionary process and in 1985 acquired the Orient brand, subsequently becoming a Holding Corporation.
