Oris
In 1904, the story of the Oris brand begins. Leader in watchmaking for over 100 years. Paul Cattin together with his partner Georgers Christian founded the Oris Watch Factory in the city of Hölstein. It owes its name to the river of the same name that flows near the Swiss city.
Modern mechanics: Oris watchmaking savoir faire
In 1925 ORIS made its first wristwatch and in 1938 the first pilot's watch, equipped with a large crown and the Pointer Calendar function. The unmistakable "Big Crown" collection owes its name to the imposing crown of the watch, born with the intention of making it easier for pilots to adjust their watches even with gloves on. At the end of the 1960s, ORIS is one of the 10 largest watch companies in the world.
A bigger and brighter future
The quartz crisis of the seventies and early eighties will lead the Oris company to the choice of abandoning quartz and producing exclusively mechanical watches. With this decision, the Swiss brand will aim to become the world leader in the sector of mechanical watches with special movements at competitive prices.
