The first Citizen diving watch, named Aqualand 1, debuted at the beginning of 1985. It was the first watch to incorporate digital, electronic depth gauge. Even today, after the watch was updated and improved with the added functionality, it is still one of the most recognizable dive watches from a distance. In 1995, after more then 20 years of working, the Citizen "Eco-Drive" watch was introduced on the market. The solar panel converts the light (natural and artificial) into electrical energy, which is then stored in the special energy cell and used to power the movement. The watch may be charged in 2 minutes, and work for over 6 months without light.
